The Beginning

Victor Couto was born to defy the odds.

Diagnosed at birth with Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious congenital heart defect, Victor underwent his first open-heart surgery at just five days old. A second surgery followed at age four. Throughout his early life, Victor showed the physical resilience and unshakable spirit that would come to define him both on and off the track.

At age ten, Victor received a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. His request? To meet NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. The meeting took place in 2017 at the Phoenix Raceway, during Dale Jr.’s second-to-last NASCAR race. That experience didn’t just fulfill a dream; it planted the seed of a new one.

The Drive

Today, at 18, Victor is a rising star in open-wheel racing — but his journey began in karting. After falling in love with motorsports, he started training and competing in karts, quickly proving his talent and determination. He transitioned to virtual school and graduated high school a year early to focus more on his development. He committed to physical conditioning and worked closely with experienced coaches to refine his racecraft, laying the foundation for his move into formula racing.

Victor made his debut in the FARA Formula category in 2025 with Gonella Racing. His first weekend in the car during the Spring Shootout at Homestead-Miami Speedway delivered immediate results: two podium finishes and a and a P4, a remarkable performance for a newcomer.

He went on to win his first FARA Formula race at Sebring International Raceway, the first official round of the championship. At the next event in Homestead, he delivered an unforgettable performance, starting from the back of the grid after a DNF and charging through the field to take the win. He followed that with a P2 finish in the final race of the weekend. Each result proves what Victor has always known — he’s not just here to participate, but to compete at the highest level.

The Journey Ahead

Victor’s racing isn’t just about speed — it’s about purpose.

Through the Race to Make a Difference™ initiative, Victor is combining his career with a mission: to inspire, to give back, and to drive impact. Alongside his family and sponsors, he’s helping fundraise for causes like the Rotary campaign to eradicate polio, showing that motorsports can be a platform for good.

Victor’s story is one of heart, literally and figuratively. From beating the odds as a child to chasing victory as a driver, his journey is just getting started.
